PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release  February 15, 2001

Toad Hall Motor Racing, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, enters The Keewaydin/Toad Hall/Moorespeed Porsche GT3 in the Speedvision World Challenge GT Race at the Texas Grand Prix in Dallas on March 2-4, 2001. Team expected to be a front runner.

Peter Kitchak, Runner-up in 1999’s driver’s championship in the Speedvision World Challenge GT series, will drive the #3 Keewaydin/Toad Hall/Moorespeed Porsche GT3 in the first round of the Speedvision World Challenge GT event for the 2001 season at Dallas Motor Speedway this weekend. 31 GT high performance sports cars representing 10 different manufacturers are entered at Dallas.

Kitchak, who only competed in part of the 2000 season, returns with the same car he drove last year and with the same primary sponsors, The Keewaydin Group Real Estate Advisors and GT Racing, a manufacturer of light weight Porsche fiberglass body parts.

Kitchak was the winner of the GT-2 Class at the 1998 24 Hours of Daytona and winner of 4 Speedvision World Challenge GT races in 1999. A veteran of the World’s major endurance races at Daytona, Sebring and the 24 Hours of LeMans, Kitchak is one of the favorites in the series.

The Speedvision World Challenge GT series is North America’s leading professional series for exotic production sports cars.  Pitting European marks such as Porsche Audi, Ferrari and BMW against the “big iron” from North America, the 8 liter Dodge Vipers, the Corvettes and the Mustangs, and the best sports cars from Japan with the turbocharged Toyota Supra and the Acura NSX, the season presents a top level series with a broad spectrum of manufacturers competing.

The World Challenge GT series will include 10 races throughout North America during the 2001 season, including 2 races in Canada.

Kitchak, a resident of  Excelsior, Minnesota, was the Canadian American Ice Racing Champion (driving a Porsche on the frozen lakes of the US and Canada) in 1970 and the International Ice Racing Champion in 1973.  He did not drive any race cars between 1974 and 1994 when he started his road racing career.

The Keewaydin Toad Hall Porsche is a normally aspirated 3.6 liter  water-cooled Porsche GT3 with 6 cylinders that makes approximately 420 horsepower.  The car is prepared by Moorespeed Race Engineering of Austin, Texas.

Series rule changes to the car during the off season will required it to weigh 150 pounds more than it did last year. The car will, however, have a new wing and is expected to be even more competitive than in the past.  “The Porsche GT3 is an incredible car,” said Kitchak, “it has proved a formidable competitor in all forms of road racing over the last couple of years.  Porsche won the manufacturer’s championship in World Challenge in 1999 and 2000 and we expect to be a part of another win for Porsche in 2001.”

David Moore, owner of Moorespeed Race Engineering of Austin, Texas will be the team’s manager, crew chief and chief engineer for the 2000 season. Moorespeed is a specialty race car engineering and preparation shop specializing in Porsche and other race cars. Other crew members are Lee Kemper, John Ormberget, and Craig Jull of Austin and Keith Surmont of West Palm Beach Florida.

In 1999, Kitchak was runner-up in the Speedvision GT championship. He lost the championship by only one point. He went into the last race leading the series. After winning the pole position for the race, he was bumped off the course from behind in the first turn of the first lap. Although he started from the rear of the field, he finished that race in 4th place and narrowly missed winning his first World Challenge GT championship.

The Keewaydin Group, primary sponsor of Kitchak’s car, is a national real estate advisory company headquartered in Minneapolis. The company assists in creating strategic real estate solutions for business throughout the United States. Some of Keewaydin’s clients include: Target Corporation, Medtronic and Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation.

Kitchak is a resident of Excelsior, Minnesota. He is 59 years old, married and is a successful business man. He is the founder and CEO of the Keewaydin Group.

Toad Hall Motor Racing is owned by Kitchak and partner and teammate Jim Oppenheimer of Chicago. Oppenheimer is a collector of significant racing cars and participates in vintage car racing throughout the United States.
